Working in the open

Table of Contents

Draft — outline for now. The full write-up is on its way.

Almost all of Pontoon is built and reviewed in public. That changes how decisions get made: every change has to weigh what staff need against how the volunteer community actually works. This piece is about what that has been like in practice.

What this will cover

  • Reviewing in public, and how it shapes the way I write changes
  • Balancing staff priorities against community workflows
  • A few moments where contributor feedback redirected the work
  • The parts of open source that surprised me

Placeholder for now — I will flesh each of these out with concrete examples.
