I joined Healthlytics as a software engineer on the product engineering team. This entry is the high-level overview: who I worked with, what I owned and the shape of the role.

The role

  • Title: Software Engineer
  • Type: internship
  • Timeframe: a fixed-term engagement
  • Location: hybrid
  • Reported to: my team lead

The team

I worked on the product engineering team, a group building the health analytics product. My day-to-day overlapped with the data and product folks who decided what we needed to surface and how.

Cadenceshort delivery cycles with regular reviews

Scope of work

In short, I owned a slice of the product and the code behind it. Concretely that meant:

  • Building and maintaining features in the product.
  • Keeping the data flowing correctly between the app and its stores.
  • Reviewing changes and helping keep the codebase healthy.

Context that mattered

Healthlytics works with health data, so privacy and correctness shaped almost everything. That meant being careful about what data was touched and treating the numbers as something people would actually rely on.

What’s next

The companion entry, What I built, drills into a specific project: the problem, my approach and what changed once it shipped.
